Kikai Town Hometown Tax

Children's carefree lives woven from the blessings of the island

Located 380km south of the mainland, Kikaijima is an uplifted coral reef island in the northeastern part of the Amami Islands.

This island has been designated a geopark and selected as a World Geological Heritage Site (2nd edition), a testament to its globally recognized geological value. The magnificent topography created by uplift of approximately 2 mm per year, along with the tropical specialty products nurtured by its rich natural environment, are highly regarded as return gifts.

Furthermore, we are actively working to expand the number of visitors and revitalize the region through initiatives such as supporting families raising children and the coral reef study abroad program (high school students studying on remote islands).
