Sightseeing spots in Akune City

Banshogaoka Park

The park was named after the "guardhouse" that was used to watch out for smuggling during the Edo period, and is a beautiful spot where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Akune city, Koshikijima Island, and the Shio mountain range. Akune Oshima Park

About 10 minutes by boat from Akune Shinko Ferry Terminal, this uninhabited island is located about 2km offshore and is covered in a beautiful pine forest with a circumference of 4km. You can enjoy nature all year round, such as swimming and marine sports at the beach, which is one of the "1 Best Beaches," or interacting with the wild deer that live on the island.

Terashima Munenori played an important role in the modernization of Japan, making use of his experience as a member of the Satsuma Domain's mission to Britain. The old house of Terashima Munenori, who was born in Akune City, is open to the public as a memorial museum that displays historical materials that tell the story of his life and achievements. Roadside Station Akune

Located along National Route 3, it is also popular as a viewing spot overlooking the East China Sea. At the product center, you can purchase fresh marine and agricultural products, as well as other local delicacies.
