[From Yoka Guide] ~ Be careful of ashfall when sightseeing in Kagoshima ~
Eruptions have been continuing from the night of May 5th to the morning of the 15th at the Minami-dake summit crater of Sakurajima. If you are sightseeing in Kagoshima city, please do not forget to bring an umbrella as rain is forecast from the evening of the 16th to tomorrow and the day after. An umbrella can also protect you from ash. We also recommend checking the weather forecast for the Kagoshima region to see the hourly wind direction and areas where ashfall is expected on Sakurajima. *As of the morning of the 16th, ashfall has been seen in Kagoshima City, Aira City, and other areas, and is expected to spread to Kirishima City, Hioki City, and the northern part of the prefecture.

Well, "Yoka Guide Kagoshima" operates the online shopping site "Kagokago.jp" where you can order Kagoshima delicacies and specialties selected by the editorial department directly from the source. The very popular product "Amami Hospitality Cuisine: Chicken Rice" by "Amami no Sato" that is sold here was featured in the "Delicious! My Mail Order Delivery" corner at the end of the January 1th issue of "Weekly Bunshun" (released January 16th, 2025).
This popular corner features famous people from various fields introducing the products they actually order and their appeal.
This time, Utami Hayashishita, a female professional wrestler who is also known as the third daughter of "Big Daddy" Kiyoshi Hayashishita, introduces us to "Chicken Rice."
Amami's local dish "Tori-meshi" is a dish that warms both the body and soul. It is made by topping steaming rice with chicken, shredded egg, fragrant condiments, and a special dashi broth. We hope that this opportunity will help more people learn about the deliciousness of Kagoshima food!

[From Yoka Guide] ~ Thinking back to this day 79 years ago ~
The hot days continue, how are you all doing? It's been hot in Kagoshima since morning... but when I watched the national weather forecast on TV, the temperature in Kagoshima today was lower than in Fukuoka and Kansai... is that really true!? But it's still hot all over the country. Everyone, please be careful of heatstroke.
Well, there is a report that has been attracting attention since yesterday. A statement by table tennis player Hayata Hina, who also performed very well at the Paris Olympics. When asked what she wanted to do now, she said that she wanted to go to the Anpanman Museum and the Kagoshima Kamikaze Museum. Many of you may have already seen it on the news.
In fact, there are three facilities related to the kamikaze attacks in Kagoshima. Among them, the one that is well known even to people living outside the prefecture is the "Chiran Peace Museum" in Minamikyushu City. I covered it a long time ago, and I couldn't stop crying the whole time (although I should have stayed calm while I was working...).
It's a must-see tourist spot, introduced in the limited space of the "Yoka Guide Kagoshima" tourist book (free paper). When people ask me "What are some recommended tourist spots in Kagoshima?" I make sure to tell them "You must visit this place!!" I hope that Hayata will encourage more people to visit.
If you have a copy of the free paper version of "Yoka Guide," I would like you to read the article, but the information is also available on the "Yoka Guide" website, so please take a look (sorry it's not a direct link though...(._.))
#Chiran Special Attack Peace Hall
https://yokaguide.com/minami_kyushu/1725.html
The other two kamikaze-related facilities are located in Bansei, Minamisatsuma City, and Kanoya City. If you are traveling by car, I think it is easy to approach from Chiran. If you have the opportunity, please stop by.
You can get to Chiran by bus from Kagoshima Chuo Station or Kagoshima Airport, but it may be easier to travel by car (rental car). It takes about an hour and a half by car from Kagoshima city, depending on the time of day. However, please note that congestion and traffic jams are expected during the peak tourist season.
Additionally, for everyone living in eastern Japan in particular, please be aware that as of the 15th, a typhoon is approaching.
