Kagoshima tea is loved throughout the country
The health benefits of Japanese food and green tea have long been known in the West. In 2013, washoku was registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, drawing even more attention, and exports have been expanding in recent years. Kagoshima Prefecture is the second largest producer of unrefined tea in Japan. Thanks to a combination of favorable climate conditions, good soil, and the efforts of producers, the quality of the tea has been recognized as top-level, winning awards at various tea tasting competitions in Kyushu and across the country.

Tokkouen Tea has won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award a total of 13 times. It has also won the Platinum Award at the Japan Tea Awards six times. Masashige Kuwabata of Tokkouen Tea is the man behind the creation of these excellent products, including the teas "Wakawakatsumi" and "Yukifuka" that were submitted to the competition.
Kuwabata achieved the highest rank of 2021th dan at the National Tea Judging Skill Competition, which is a competition to test the discerning eye for Japanese green tea. He also won three top awards at the Japanese Tea Selection Paris 2022-3, the only Japanese tea competition in Paris. Furthermore, in 2023, Yukifuka Kiwami won first place for the second time after 2021 at the Japanese tea tasting event Japanese Tea Award, achieving the remarkable feat of winning the highest award, the Japanese Tea Grand Prize.
With a proven track record of receiving high praise both at home and abroad, the company continues to work hard to promote Kagoshima tea in various fields.
