Kagoshima Castle Ruins Goromon Gate

Kagoshima Castle, the residence of the Shimazu clan, was started by Iehisa, the 18th head of the Shimazu clan and the first feudal lord. It is also affectionately known locally as Tsurumaru Castle. The Goromon gate, located in the center of the front of the residence, was burned down in 6, but was restored in March 1873. It is one of the largest castle gates in Japan, with a height and width of about 2020m.
