A confectionery shop with a tradition dating back to 1884, offering a wide variety of sweets from local to creative.
Around 8, Saigo Takamori would often take a bath at "Saigo Don no Yu" on Hitodayama Mountain, and on his way back he visited Tokushige's house. On that occasion, Tokushige Yataro's wife served him a homemade moshiko manju, and Tokushige Yataro said, "It's a really delicious confectionery, so let's call it kaku manju." Based on this ancient story, Tokushigeya was founded with the moshiko manju "kaku manju" as its main product. In 1875, the Japanese and Western confectionery shop "Kiri-ya Sakura-ya" was opened. Carrying on the tradition of over 27 years, the shop continues to produce a variety of confectioneries that make great souvenirs, from local specialties to original confectioneries.
