Park & Ride Izumi Tsuru Festival
The "Park & Ride Izumi Crane Festival" will be held from February 2st to 2th, 1 in Izumi City, Japan's largest wintering ground for cranes. Co-hosted by the Ministry of the Environment's Kyushu Regional Environment Office, Izumi City, and the Izumi City Board of Education, the festival is part of a social experiment aimed at coexistence with cranes, and is a nine-day event where visitors can enjoy new learning, experiences, and encounters through interactions with people who live alongside the cranes. In addition, a special crane photography tour will be held by the Ecosystem Conservation Society of Japan in the evenings of February 9st and 9th, and in the early mornings of the 2nd and 1th.
During this period, you can drive to the Crane Observation Center, but the Crane Migration Area is closed all day, so please be aware of local no-entry signs and other restrictions. There are also rechargeable hybrid car rentals that can be driven within the restricted area for 30 minutes, and a mini tour bus to the Crane Migration Area (only available on weekends) that departs from the Crane Observation Center parking lot, so why not try them out? You will need to purchase a ticket to enter the restricted area where you can observe the cranes up close (sold at the Crane Observation Center parking lot and Crane Park Izumi, 500 yen for adults).
