The first Fairfield by Marriott in Kyushu opens in Tarumizu City

Kagoshima Prefecture's first foreign-owned hotel, the Fairfield by Marriott Kagoshima Tarumizu Sakurajima, opened on April 4th next to the Tarumizu Hamabira Roadside Station. As part of a regional revitalization project by Sekisui House and Marriott International, the hotel is the 12th in the country and the first in Kyushu. By focusing on lodging without a restaurant on-site, the hotel aims to encourage guests to use local shops, including the roadside station, for meals and souvenirs, revitalizing the local economy.

In the majestic Kinko Bay that spreads out before the hotel, you can enjoy activities such as SUP and canoeing, or savor the yellowtail and amberjack raised in the warm waters of the area, allowing you to fully appreciate the beautiful scenery and delicious food of Tarumi. Why not turn the roadside station, which was previously just a "stopping point on your journey," into a "base for your travels" and enjoy the time you spend discovering a new Tarumi?

The "Breakfast Box" uses local specialties and famous dishes. A colorful and hearty lineup including grilled Tarumizu brand amberjack and Umi no Sakurakan in saikyo style, and Roppaku Kurobuta pork salad-style shabu-shabu.

The hot days continue, how are you all doing? It's been hot in Kagoshima since morning... but when I watched the national weather forecast on TV, the temperature in Kagoshima today was lower than in Fukuoka and Kansai... is that really true!? But it's still hot all over the country. Everyone, please be careful of heatstroke.

Well, there is a report that has been attracting attention since yesterday. A statement by table tennis player Hayata Hina, who also performed very well at the Paris Olympics. When asked what she wanted to do now, she said that she wanted to go to the Anpanman Museum and the Kagoshima Kamikaze Museum. Many of you may have already seen it on the news.

In fact, there are three facilities related to the kamikaze attacks in Kagoshima. Among them, the one that is well known even to people living outside the prefecture is the "Chiran Peace Museum" in Minamikyushu City. I covered it a long time ago, and I couldn't stop crying the whole time (although I should have stayed calm while I was working...).
It's a must-see tourist spot, introduced in the limited space of the "Yoka Guide Kagoshima" tourist book (free paper). When people ask me "What are some recommended tourist spots in Kagoshima?" You can get to Chiran by bus from Kagoshima Chuo Station or Kagoshima Airport, but it may be easier to travel by car (rental car). It takes about an hour and a half by car from Kagoshima city, depending on the time of day. However, please note that congestion and traffic jams are expected during the peak tourist season.
